Does anybody know of any cheaper ways of getting training/education in production (editing, writing, cinematography) - free courses etc
This is for film/television. I do not have a large budget and limited free time as I am currently a runner with multiple jobs. I graduated from film studies, have made my own short films, take my own digital and analogue street-style and portrait photographs and am looking to build skill in a fixed and focused manner as I find it difficult to do without guidance.

- It sounds like you are already in the right place to learn. Perhaps what you need to define is on which part of the film industry you want to be, and then focus on that path. The film set is the best university outthere.
- the open university has something called open learning, which offers free courses (mostly online).https://www.open.edu/openlearn/have a gander. might find what you're looking for. good luck.
- @Federica Marzella Hi Federica, this is an absolutely amazing response and extremely helpful - I can't wait to get stuck into the resources you've listed as soon as possible and I hope other people who come across this answer find this helpful.Thank you so much!
- Hey Rea, my experience is in editing so my advice will be mainly in that area:My first suggestion is LinkedIn Learning: if you have a LinkedIn account and you've never paid for a LinkedIn Premium subscription, they offer 30 days for free. The amount of content on the Learning platform has helped me a lot! I personally followed the Avid Media Composer course but I saw that they have Premiere, After Effects and Final Cut courses, if that interests you!Obviously, I'd say plan it around the best time for you and make the most of those 30 days!Secondly, Blackmagic Design now have free training resources on their website to learn how to use DaVinci Resolve (which you can also download for free): I got a Colour Grading certification through them! https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/products/davinciresolve/trainingAlternatively, if you have a look at https://www.screenskills.com, I know that they offer training bursaries for people at any level in their career, so if you find a course that you really like but it's a bit over budget, I highly recommend applying for funding!Hope this helps and good luck!
