Does anyone know how to go about pitching and funding a documentary?

  • @James Clark I'm a self-shooting documentary director looking to collaborate with journalists - let me know if you'd be keen on working on a project together!
  • hello! I have tried to answer to the quesition about pitch decks here on this post: https://www.instagram.com/p/CGU8NPSnZLW/ maybe you can find it useful and get something from it. I feel is derivable also for docs. For the funding, depending from your country there should be a statal organization (art/culture/cinema) that should have a support for film. This happens also on a regional scale, so a particular region can have money aside for cultural / audio visual activities. Depending from the documentary, the same country where it is shoot could be interested in helping you with its found. Other thing can be looking for a possible sponsor. example: The doc is about crossing antartica solo, ----> maybe a mountaineering brand can be interested in supporting you.

Festivals also have pitch sessions where you can get in touch with producers or prod companies. Maybe check the most important doc fest in your region and see if they have pitch or networking events

All cases you need a deck to present your project.

Hope you could get some useful infos!

    cheers

    A.
