Does anyone use Notion?

I've been using notion for a while and I have just recently discovered that I have not been using Notion.

Let me explain.

Notion is one of those all you can workforce management tools that can kick you into getting your act together.

You can use it to write your content
Social media calendar
Assign a specific task to colleagues

Whatever you want to do that's important to you.

I would go far as to say that Notion makes certain apps redundant (looks at all the notes app).

My question is, has anyone used Notion and truly used it?

Have you created a cool workflow system that kicks you into getting not only your work but your life in order?

Please share your stories and images as I would love to know all about your experience.

  • @Harry Harrison Thanks Harry, I'm honestly blown away by the possibilities. I didn't realise how powerful it truly is.

Wow! That's an incredible setup. Did you guys find it easy to create?

Wait, there's another tool?! Ok, I'm going to resist the temptation from taking a look till the future lol.
  • Great to see another Notion fan @Prince Jumbo !

We were early users here at The Dots and in fact we used it as the main project management tool for our product team for a couple of years.

We had a 'Tasks' table which we would then write out briefs, attach designs and include screenshots of supporting data. That 'Task' row was then used by the whole team as it moved from idea, to design, to development, QA etc.

We primarily used Kanban views for this but we did also keep our general business documentation in there as regular pages within nested folders.

We only stopped using Notion a few months back when we moved to a very similar tool (Coda) as it gives us a bit more flexibility with the different views we could set up and there were also more integrations with other tools which helped to streamline our process.
  • @Prince Jumbo You are very welcome for the info! One more tip—the free personal plan gives you quite a lot, but if you want to upgrade then check under settings for ways to earn credit. Basically you can earn money towards your subs through 6 'tasks' which are pretty much just showing you how certain features work =D

    Enjoy folks!
  • @Jo Levy I recently just started looking at the templates and there is such a variety. Thats a very handy tip, I wasn't aware that section is updated frequently. I'm going to keep an eye on it. Thank you for that very needed information!
  • @Prince Jumbo Well, I signed up after a friend recommended it, and began by exploring the templates—they can show you quite a lot about how Notion can be used in a practical way. But also their help page is pretty good (https://www.notion.so/Help-Support-e040febf70a94950b8620e6f00005004), and has links to training vids on YouTube as well as a 'New to Notion?' section which is a great place to start. I also make sure to check out the 'What's New' notice every time they update, as it usually has some cool tips!
  • @Jo Levy The way you're using it is miles above mine at the moment! At the moment it has just been a place to write up my content before I head over to wordpress.

I have just recently discovered the endless possibilies by watching a few of their videos but mostly being inspired by what everyone else seems to be using it for.

Did you get any tips prior or was it fairly smooth sailing from the start?
  • I do use Notion extensively, but not quite in the way you're talking about. I mostly use it as a data bank, for my to do lists, projects, personal and work notes, media (reading) lists, random ideas, and so on.

I actually have been meaning to set up a more structured workflow system with it, since I read something somewhere about being able to set up databases of tasks and then pull them into one 'current' list as you actually work on them. That sounds utterly glorious! =D
