Given a choice between Product management and UX design courses for upskilling purpose, which one would you choose and why ?
Is it necessary to be from a technical background for taking up these courses ?

- @Javier Navarro Thanks for the insight ! Yes I seem to have some idea now.
- Hi Shaswati,It pretty much depends on your skills and experience but if you feel you have already fairly covered the product side I would definitely encourage UX: it will definitely give you a more systemic approach to design which will be more useful & appreciated in the times to come.I have more than twenty years of experience in product and I reckon hard times are ahead, retail is a small pool and the competition will be fierce however UX and strategy roles will be more on demand.Hope this helps!
- @Louise Trethewey Thanks for your helpful response !
- UX design. This will help build your skills and experience if you want to later go into product management. Lots of good product managers have the background first (design, development, software etc) as they understand how to make it first (and solve it), before they can then manage it.
- @Kasia Bryc Thanks for replying :)
- Shaswati UX design .. after my vey long experiance
- Hey thanks for your response, Pete ! That was helpful :)
- I would personally take UX design courses as you will learn a lot about the UX design process which is key for good product management and also you will learn about managing a product build.People I know who have taken just product management course tend to get bogged down in budgeting, timelines etc and know little about the design process. Successful product managers have taken UX course even if they are not designers themselves.Just my two cents!
