Has anybody paid to be featured on the Directory of illustrators? I'm thinking about it but 82 Dollars is a month is a lot of money...

I saw that the AOI also offers a package which gives you 10 images within the directory. ... any suggestions?

  • It's good if you are already making money and can afford it. Otherwise, its better to focus on getting your bussines moving on it's own.
  • @John hogan Thank you so much. That's really interesting! :-)...

  • @Ida Henrich I did recieve some advice , however, it wasnt extensive and the information was kind of obvious and unhelpful. To be honest its all part of the money making process, smoke and mirrors im afraid. The site does give you exposure true, but if your work is not of the day you will find you have no business. Josh was right too, the industry is saturated, and directories are where all the big agents promote their artists, and are more likely to get the work, rather than a freelance artist that is un tried.
  • @Josh Callaghan Thank you so much for your response! I don't know if I'm giving into marketing... lol
  • @John hogan Thank you for your reply. That's interesting. They said that they would give some advice while you are with them. Did they and did you find it useful?
  • Hi Ida, I was with them for over a year, and i am still listed. I have never had any enquiries or jobs from the site. It is a lot of money, and if you want to be featured in. the physical directory then it is yet more expence. I guess its all down to your style and if the style is currently in vogue. I guess my style wasnt, and so you may have more luck with it.
  • I've never been tempted to try it, it's a hefty pricetag and I've always felt it'd be very easy to disappear into the crowd with so many artists on there.
