About me
I’m a freelance commercial illustrator and designer based in Glasgow. My work colourfully explores narrative and image. I like to tackle topics that are difficult to speak about using words alone. I’m particularly interested in projects surrounding activism towards a better, more fair and connected society. I first started designing and illustrating covers for books sold in high-street chains, such as Waterstones, in 2014. Since then, I have worked on a large variety of different projects with magazines, businesses and award-winning publishers. I graduated from Communication Design at the Glasgow School of Art with a BA (Hons). After volunteering at the mental health project and magazine Fearlessly CIC in 2017, I served as staff Art Editor from April 2018 to September 2019. This has provided me with extensive insight into the editorial process. I currently work with a McAteer Photo twice a week to help them with their image library, social media and film editing.

October Issue - Sustainability - Sensor WiesbadenSensor Wiesbaden approached me looking for artwork for their October issue exploring sustainability with a positive angle. Inspired by my own carrot crop, and research into healthy soil, I created an illustration with a large carrot ready for harvest. The soil surrounding it is alive with bugs, slugs, ants, worms and smaller organisms.
  • My Dream Dinner Party - Rogano Mural
My Dream Dinner Party - Rogano MuralHere it is! My mural at the Rogano in Glasgow’s city centre. I began painting this on Monday last week and have made it to the finish line. My Dinner Party pays subtle tribute to some of the Rogano’s fabulous famous diners and will be displayed for the coming 8 weeks before a new story begins to take shape. Have a visit and see if you can find out who is who! . Within my design, I wanted to celebrate the many special occasions from Rogano's long history. The artwork is inspired by BBC 4's 'My Dr

  • Cherry On Top
Cherry On TopThis is my sister Pauline climbing up the tree to get the best cherries up top. Recently, I have been working on involving more text into my artwork. I designed the composition and lettering on InDesign and then created the artwork on Procreate. The text looks like it is floating inside the branches. I can imagine this one as a cherry cider label actually? Can you see it as anything? I want to make some mockups.
  • News & Editorial illustration
News & Editorial illustrationIn times like these, it is undoubtedly important to stay engaged in the political and social narrative around us. Considering the rise of nationalism, Brexit and now Covid-19, I wanted to make sure that I have artwork as evidence of these times. Having moved on from the chaos of Brexit to Covid-19, I have noticed how quickly my concerns from December 2019 have made way for this massive catastrophe.
  • Money, money, money!
Money, money, money! Not every household has a financial buffer which allows them to easily overcome sudden difficulty, particularly during an epidemic which, does not have a retire date. This project aims to explore the different relationships that many families or individuals might have with money at a time of uncertainty. For some, with job security and savings, some unsettlement might be an easy obstacle, while others may lay awake at night.

The Communication Design course at the Glasgow School of Art focused on graphic design, illustration and photography skills with an emphasis on creative problem solving and visual storytelling. The course required meeting briefs within short timeframes, giving me a good understanding of working to deadlines. The four-year course taught me about the value of feedback, research and teamwork. Lectures on design history; gender studies and visual research provided context for my work. I have helped with fundraising, event organisation, exhibition planning and I have co-edited a student comic book. As Student Ambassador, I assisted the accommodation of ten students from the GSA Singapore campus for their short course in Scotland, in which they succeeded with a 100% pass rate.
