Hey, when submitting a short to festivals, do people think it's ok to allow creatives to use clips in their publicly available showreels?!

- Hi Fred,I would say the legal part is similar than on instagram. Everything goes but you can highlight if you are not OK with something and can ask to take it off.
- Yes I think this is fine. Unless the short is very short in and of itself, it should be easy to find a short section that is suitable to share with the cast or crew as needed. This could also come from a trailer but I find that creatives what more of a specific clip to show of an element of the film rather than a montage of the whole thing. Hope that helps!
- It is, but depends from what and how many seconds. Reusing the clips of a trailer / teaser may be a smart move to do not compromise the short but still put it on the reel. Cheers.A.
- I think it’s fine so long as it’s a short clip and you have approved it. Plus it’s a nice gesture towards the people who worked on your project, to help them find more work! Not to mention - basically free advertising. :-)
