Hi all have just updated my website. I would appreciate your comments anything I need to go to improve it. Thanks www.margaretashley.com

Are the testimonials too long, should I have the logo over to the side, what about the colours ?

  • Great content and work! You come across easy to work with and professional.

Agree with the other two comments, I do think a really easy way to get a consistent, clean design throughout would be doing a Squarespace site. I do think the site at the moment feels a little bit outdated.

However, if you don't fancy moving your site I would work on the layout a little bit. Some places I feel need a little bit of breathing space - for example on home page when you list your portfolio samples.

Watch out for pixelated images, eg. the first photo on homepage. You look so lovely in your photos, it's such a shame it has a pixelated frame around it.

I do think the structure is good - but make a bigger deal with calls to action, it's so easy to miss. (The 'contact me' could be a big button).

Me and my partner have a website design and development business, and offer website consultation services, basically a more in depth feedback with a pdf. (Just wanted to mention if you were instested - I hope it's not too cheeky). Here's out website if you wanted to get in touch https://visualsynapses.co.uk/

All the best, hope I helped!
  • Hi Margaret,
I agree with what the others have said and will only add one technical point and a strategic one:
    • technical --- the Submit button in Contact Me and the Back To Top button are the ones harder to read (quick fix)
    • strategic --- your voice is wonderful and I would encourage you to record a short welcome audio message specific for the visitors of your website... why make them read when they can experience first hand your incredible talent? Make it prominent, separate from the audio snippets which are part of your portfolio.

I hope this helps and best of luck :)
  • Hi Magaret, great content. I agree with Mansi and Jhon. I would acutally go for white background with a stronger contract colour. The news section is very informative but too text heavy, it may be better to do a vlog (video blog) that you can share across social media and tag/
If possible, I would categorise the sound files under 4 heading i.e Advertisting, Narrative, Accents and Role Play and then put the sound bites in the relevant folder. Each sound file should be labeled the campaign name i.e B&Q this will inform vistors of the brands your voiced has been used for. Hope this helps
  • Hey Hey!

Loved your work, to make it less complaicated I suggest you get one of the tempelates where you dont have to really worry about the design. Could be squarespace or Shopify. I will just link them below. You could choose a tempelate that matches your authenticity.

    https://www.squarespace.com ; https://www.shopify.com

Would also suggest you collaberate with other voice over actors on social media or create content around it, which would help increase your reach. I hope this helps!

If you need any help please dont hesitate to ask!
    Cheers & Stay Safe!
  • Hi! I enjoy your site, but I do have a remark regarding your font colour.
Aim for a lower level AA, meaning add more contrast between the background and the fonts. Check the WCAG Accessibility guidelines. Hope it helps!
