Hi! All you self-employed, please tell me what do you wish you’d known or got more support with when you started working for yourself?

- Hmm probably save yourself a headache and get an accountant straight away.
- One of the most important - is very important to be organized - makes all the difference and it gives your freedom and more time.
- Well I'm currently starting a new business, but I have worked for myself for a long time as a freelancer.I'd had a career in business before hand, so I found situations where I had followed up and been a bit tougher, meaning I managed to get paid when other freelancers didn't. I think not always focussing on your craft is important- you have to keep the business balls in the air too, otherwise it's not sustainable.
- @Laura Holland Interesting, will check those out! Thank you :)
- @Laura Manninen The British Library Zooms are very good. Enterprise Nation is also a good resource.
- @Laura Holland Thank you for the input. I have also noticed the same issue with lack of support for some. Is there any place specific you would recommend for everyone when it comes to educating yourself?
- There's quite a lot of supprt available in the planning stages- but when you need to build a list of potential customers you are on, your own- so many people pay for email addresses which is not the best way.I did courses in marketing and brand building, mindset and social media etc. I even got help to build a website, but now I have to build a list I'm pretty much on my own. There is also a lot of help available for developing your business if you already gross £50,000 pa, but there is a yawning gap in between.
