Hi everyone! i was wondering how many documentaries and movies related with art and artists would you recommend to watch?
im gonna start sharing a couple:
*Beautiful Losers
*Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry
*Mapplethorpe: Look at the Pictures
Share all you think could be interesting, no matter the profession or the art style, or even if its more technical than artistic.
Thanks for reading!

- Oh, easy – none. There’s more to life than art & design. Way too many people are taking their careers into their personal lives and free times and it’s making them worse at what they do. Plus, it isn’t healthy.Watch something else.
- Keith Haring: Street Art Boy is amazing, a very interesting guy but obviously gets a bit heavy and tragic towards the end when it deals with his death.I agree with @Soraia Soares below as well, Abstract is great. Especially the Christoph Niemann episode.
- @Sino Blasco Not really (if you're talking about the painted posters from Ghana, for example). The painted posters are the ones from early cinema up until the golden age of the family blockbuster (Goonies, Raiders of the lost ark etc...), the second part is about licencing rights to create alternative posters (mostly done through Illustrator I suppose)
- @Sino Blasco check out the Banksy documentary 'Exit through the Gift Shop' - think it can be found on YouTube. It's great!
- @Soraia Soares nice! i'll watch them as soon as i can. Thanks!
- @Sandrine Bascouert sounds pretty interesting.Has somethig to do with the african and eastern european handmade posters for foreign movies? i read some article about that some time ago. Thanks for reply!
- There is a doc on Sky arts at the moment (it's free on freeview BTW,, channel 11) called 24x36 (not the size of a 35mm film frame :) ) about film posters illustrators. First part is about old time painted posters, pre 90s and the second part is about the alternative posters scene, something I knew nothing about. Maybe not exactly what you had in mind, but an excellent doc to understand the business side of it, both then and now...
- I would suggest two mini weri of Netflix: Broken and Abstract. I loved both and they can bring great insights to you as a designer (branding, product, package, everything!)
