How to price yourself as a freelancer?

I’m looking for advice or tips on how to price for any personal work. I’m trying to plan my work for after I graduate my last year at university, however I have heard a lot of different things regarding pricing for freelance work. Any advice would be appreciated :))

  • I know you’re looking for an actual number rather than complicated equations. And it really isn’t that simple, unfortunately. However, I’ll pass on some advice an old tutor gave me when I was studying – that I’ve shared here before. When you’re a student, charge £25/hr. No less. As you head into the latter parts of third year and are developing, you can increase that to £30-35/hr which can also carry you over after graduation and you can go from there as you enter the world of work, based on time, ability, and space in your schedule.

There’s more to it; more variables. But as a baseline that has always served me and folks I know quite well.
  • Hey @Crystal Patterson ! I beleive Nikky Lyle has some really useful guides in regards to this on her website: https://guides.nikkylyle.com/a-fool-proof-guide-to-day-rates-salaries

    Hope this helps :)
