Is it still useful to have a website for content creators, should I have a mini portfolio along side my social media?

  • I think Monica is right, you need to remember the ROI on social media for most people is dire, for it to be successful you need to spend a huge amount of time on it, and that does not guarantee you cut through.

A good website as part of a mixed marcoms strategy is vital, social media is a part of that strategy not the driver of it.

Keep in mind that with a social media platform your businesses visibility is entirely in the hands of the platform. In this the platform holds all the cards, the means to control your visibility, all the data about that visibility and the ability to control who sees your work, and when they see it, holding all those cards they will then ask you to pay them for extra traffic.

It's no wonder that quite a few smart marketers are turning to sophisticated and targeted direct mail as an effective tool.
  • It’s good to have a social media channel and a website for more professional approach to your work where you can add your creative cv and showcase your work in a better resolution.
