  • Hello Erea.
I quite agree with both @Ross McClure and @Dan Kennedy

You should find a way to insert the words 'photographer/director' in the layout of the site, next to or under your name for example, so that the visitor knows immediately who you are and what you do, in which case the example of Dan Medhurst is quite fitting.

I would also include an 'about me/bio' section in the menu, where I would embed your CV in a conversational way, for example:

"After graduating in Advertising & Media Production at Solent University & Miami Ad School, she gained experience working with companies like PIC&C Milan, Uncle Gray Copenhagen, and MAS San Paolo"

The choice of horizontal navigation is unusual, but I personally like it, as well as the chosen font.
  • Hi Erea, I would agree with what Dan says below.

You should make it clear who you are and what you do so people don't have to search for it on your site. Consider having a text on the landing page that says "Erea Ferreiro is X and she does Y". You could add in adjectives if you think your work has a certain style or tone.

I think you should choose to have photography OR video as the main element of the site and then have the other skill as an additional section. For example, you have lots of amazing photography but it's hidden under 'Selected Work' which could mean anything. Equally 'Documentary' to me means video documentary, not street photography. Clarify each section to solve this issue. Maybe have a 'Photography' section and a 'Film' section? You could have sub-sections for the different types of photography you do?

Check out this website for the photographer Dan Medhurst - it's super clear from when you land what he is all about. He has different sections for the kinds of works he does all grouped together to make it easy for people to see what they want.

Finally, I would add some kind of text explaining each of the videos, who was involved in them and who the client was. It's unclear right now as they are just embedded without any explanation. Also on Vimeo you can upload a curated image for the thumbnail hold image before people press play. You can take a frame from the video, add text, etc and make it look appealing for someone to watch it!

    Good luck!
  • Hi Erea, Really nice work. A few notes:
-its not clear from your site that you do photography?
-people will spend 1-6 seconds on your site initially so I'd say make it clear what you do..
-Think about who would book you to do a shoot. You need to appeal directly to them. If your dream would be to working for fashion brands, show that kind of work. If documentary is your dream, show that. Make some PDFs of your best 3 shots and email people you'd love to work with showing that work. Address them by name. Make sure there are no spelling mistakes (there's one in your post above) and be regular.. Send out work once a month and keep on their radar..

Best of luck on your journey.. and great work...

    Dan
