Kind of lost

Hi everyone!
I'm a free lancer and among many projects I sell some artwork and poster on line. ( I don't make a living out of it).
i have illustrator and photoshop skills which apply well for what I create. I have some graphic design knowledge Too.
Sometimes I think I could work in the industry ( just to add an extra project to my life! ) but I'm not sure what I could do .

that's what happens in my mind:
I'm a creative
i know how to do a lot of things
I don't know nothing

  • @Robyn Ambery-Smith @Tamryn Kerr @Nas Abraham thank you so much for the advices. Nice of you. It seems i really need to sit and write things down and do some "tydy up" . @Elliott Starr (he/ him) that's a gem thanks for sharing!
  • Hi Mattia, where I work it seems like you would make a good graphic designer. For this career you would need to start from the bottom and work your way up so people would expect that you would have lots to learn and give you the extra help that you might need. My advise would be to start looking at people's portfolio's and see if their work is the sort of thing that you would be interested in doing. If so, then at least you have a starting point to work out how you get that first foot in the door. Hope that helps. Tamryn
  • Hi Mattia, I suggest you look into the Good Nugget mentoring scheme, it's a great scheme matching individuals with professionals in the industry through a mentoring programme. Through this you'd probably be able to gain more understanding about the creative industry and where you could potentially fit! I believe their next programme starts in September and they'll be looking to get applicants shortly.

    Thanks,

    Robyn

  • That's an interesting problem to have. I would first of all advise approaching it less from a perspective of an "industry", but rather come from a place of understanding what you want to genuinely create. Probably the most important thing to really establish is WHY you want to create. Who are you creating for? What do you see yourself creating and getting paid for? What kind of people do want to affect with your designs? Do you want to work for a company/ team or freelance? Establishing these answers will give you a good framework for your direction and will help you understand what you want and go after it.
