Strategies for finding projects, advice needed!

A little bit of soul searching these days: I have been blessed - overall - with not having to fight for projects since the beginning of the pandemic, and it has started to dry up. I still have my regular clients but I am starting to have less projects, and less new clients that I previously mainly gained through word of mouth. I realised that I have been extremely complacent, but also that I have not enterily well equiped to outwardly search for clients/projects. I decided to do something about it so I don't have to give up that freelancing life I cherish.
I started by reigniting my LinkedIn account, but I feel a bit like a fraud, I am extremely self-conscious about being seen as pushy. I should know better, but it's still a massive hurdle.
So any strategies to connect with more people (I like to engage, help, share online, so that's not a problem, more the specific aspect of putting forward my services).
I might also add that I work only remotely, as travelling/commuting is difficult for me due to personal reasons.

Any ideas welcome!
Thanks.

  • @Kim Edwards Thank you. Yes I have done that yesterday, I can't believe I wasn't open to work there. I also put my actual profile picture instead of my logo (A big step still) and changed from my company name to my real name. I don't know if it would be seen as necessary, just to appear more "real" 😅.
I am yet to do that on the Dots, and will be working on it, just right now. There's so much for me to catch up on!

Thank you for the kind words of support!
  • Hi Sandrine, I totally understand your feelings about Linkedin, im the same. I dont know if you have already done this but on linkedin you can change your profile to have the "opentowork" on your profile Image and you can also set your profile information to show that you are open to opportunities e.g freelance etc.

On The Dots you can also set your search options to only include "remote" "Freelance"

Im not sure if this helps at all?
