Whats your method to combat procrastination? I am currently preparing for our degree exhibition and struggling.

  • Also recently heard about this anti-distraction app 'Forest' https://www.forestapp.cc/

    Haven't used it yet, but it allows you to grow a tree on your phone for whatever time you want to focus (e.g. 30mins), and you can’t do anything while this is happening. Think it also works on desktop to stop you going on selected sites.

    Good luck with the exhibition - I'm sure you'll rock it :-)
  • I find it really helps to give myself 10mins to write down everything that's floating around in my head (split out between practical to-do list things, and general thoughts/stresses etc). This way you feel secure in knowing you've addressed everything that's making your mind so busy, and can break it out to help focus on just one thing at a time.

    Also can help to give yourself a few mins just to focus on your breathing (try to clear your mind), then look at your list and choose just 1 thing to get started on. Make it achievable (humans love positive reinforcement, so being able to tick things off gives us a good motivation to achieve more!)
  • So simple but changing your scenery can work wonders. Work from a totally different location to normal if you can... or just change your seat/perspective if you can't.
  • I had this problem too! I just watched photography documentaries and eventually got the energy to start working again.
