When you are just starting out as a freelance copywriter, what's the best way to grow your portfolio?

- I waited until i was established before I went freelance as I found it a lot easier. Do you have a spec or junior porfolio or examples of work to show? Another thing I would suggest is consider trying to find an in-house longer-contract. Tech companies are usually in need...

- Offer your services to small independent businesses you would like to support for free (write a bio for a fashion designer friend, give your local cafe's website a rewrite, support a local social enterprise/charity etc).Also good to find a designer you like and offer a swap: re-write their portfolio and CV, they design yours :)
