Would be awesome to see what you think of my portfolio site? → www.ashleypauldesign.co.uk

I have made some CSS styling updates, one of which was making sure imagery fitted to mobile and also making the project info button more prominent.

  • @Ashley Paul Bell I do yes!
    https://www.behance.net/dawn_broadbent and https://www.mantrasport.co.uk/ if you'd like to have a look :)
  • @Ashley Paul Bell I see, yeah! I'd maybe flagpost that a bit more as I didn't see it when I looked. Maybe add one button at the end of each project?
  • @Michelangelo Torres Thanks for commenting and taking the time to look at my site. What colour would you say is of aestethic taste? I tend to mix things up as I was previosuly using a white and red colour.
  • @Andrea Dona Thanks for commenting! I originally had an all white background and felt like I needed to freshen it up. I will take your comments on board and when I do another refresh I will consider doing this. Yes good spot, I have deleted it as originally I thought only I could see this. Cheers, Ash
  • @Ashley Paul Bell

It all works well now :)

Unfortunately no, it's one of Adobe Portfolio's customised template - terrible I know. And thanks for the offer, I will come back with questions. I'm on the search of good web design courses at the moment to get me started.
  • Ciao Ashley, I really like the layout of the landing page! The auto-scroll threw me off at first, I was trying to scroll up and down but I wasn't able because the projects were scrolling automatically. The purple you chose is a really cool colour, but it might be a bit too much, especially when it's used across all the pages. Maybe is worth considering alternating the purple background with a white one? Just a thought!

I don't know if it supposed to be there, but you have this comment in your blog post:
'Hi, this is a comment. To get started with moderating, editing, and deleting comments, please visit the Comments screen in the dashboard. Commenter avatars come from Gravatar.'
  • @Rebecca Duncan Thanks for reviewing my site, glad you found the scroll animations enjoyable.

So I have purposefully tried to keep my site as clean as possible, as most of the time potential clients and recruiters don't have the time to read everything. Therefore I used the info link (bottom right) to be able to give the choice to view all neccessary information about the project.
  • Your site feels really slick, love the scroll animations. From folio perspective, it would just be ace to see a bit more written context about the projects, definitely got me curious!
  • @Natalia Nowakowska

Do you mean when it automatically scrolls? Have a look now as I enabled the automatic scroll feature for the slider.

Nice I just had a look, did you build it yourself? Are you running on wordpress? If you ever need any tips or guidance give me a shout. Plenty of stuff I can give you insight for.
  • @Ashley Paul Bell

    You're welcome :)

I was viewing your site through computer when I first gave you feedback. But I had a look through my phone now too and it looks great as well. One thing - viewing through computer you have this lovely feature that keeps scrolling through your projects in a loop, and on mobile that isn't possible. It would be awesome if you could do the same for mobile, but if not, it definietely isn't anything huge. I just thought it might be cool. And you've definietley achieved your goal for navigation - really great job!

I was asking for the primary goal because when I was going through your site, my first thought was that it is set up for recuiters/studios to view your work and freelancing came secondary - I was interested if I got it right.

I have got a site, it's https://natalianowakowska.myportfolio.com/ . I warn it is very basic, I haven't got experience in web design and only recently started learning about it.
  • @Ashley Paul Bell No problem! Yea, industrial design mostly but eye for detail and interested in web design and such. So always open for stuff like this :)
  • Hi Ashley, as mentioned by @Chris Butterworth ; the link to your CV seems to be broken..
  • Great work, nicely presented and doesn't create a huge carbon footprint on load - https://digitalbeacon.co/report/ashleypauldesign-co-uk

The only thing I'd say is to double check links are workin - found a broken link on the about page.
  • @Natalia Nowakowska

Thanks Natalia for taking the time do view my site, it’s great to hear what you think of my branding and project work. Been updating it and amending a few sections to give a comfortable friendly navigation.

May I ask how you were viewing my site? I will look into a zoom feature for the site.

My main goal is to showcase my work both from a freelance and occasionally personal exploration. Obviously it is a tool for clients, recruiters and anyone that has an interest in design.

Do you have your own site?
  • Wow Ashley - I love your folio and your branding! I love the reel of your projects on the front page and the navigation through the site is so easy, great job. The site throughout is very legible and there is clear heirarchy. Perhaps, one thing to add would be an option to zoom in on the images in your porjects. Other than this, really well done - professional standrad. Can I ask what is the prime goal of your site?
  • @Matt Frawey Thanks Matt, appreciate you taking the time to view my site.

This is very much on the agenda and got a couple of shoots booked in. Just been contemplating how to approach the profile picture. But I believe it will make social pages more approachable.
  • Looks good and I like the way the portfolio cycles on the home page. "Who is Ashley?"... I think it could do with a photo / photos of you. Put a face to the name :)
