Whether you’re just starting out as a creative entrepreneur or have already launched your creative business, one essential strategy to undertake is brand positioning. Get brand positioning right, and you’ll increase sales, brand recognition, and customer loyalty, as well as give your business a competitive edge in the marketplace.

Brand positioning is all about how your target audience perceives your brand. It involves defining what your brand stands for, how it’s different from the competition and the unique value you can offer customers.

Join us for our Zoom Dive with branding expert Alex Yardley, who has a solid history of developing creative brands. We’ll glean some vital insights about brand positioning to help you capture attention and firmly put your business on the path to success.

Expect to hear:

  • What is brand positioning and why is it important?
  • How your brand positioning strategy will differ from those working in other creative industries.
  • Where do you start with brand positioning—what activities do you need to carry out to make your brand stick in the minds of your target audience?
  • About real-life case studies on creative businesses that have mastered brand positioning.
  • The current trends to keep in mind as you position your brand and how that should be tied to customer expectations.
  • Why you need to review your brand position regularly.
  • About Alex’s journey as a designer and brand strategist.

Who this Zoom Dive is for:

Creative entrepreneurs at the startup or growth stage of their businesses.

About Alex Yardley

Alex Yardley is a London-based multidisciplinary designer and strategist. She specialises in brand identities and has worked across a broad range of projects from photography, textiles, art and architecture to fintech and skincare, both directly with clients and through agencies. Her portfolio of clients includes Legal & General and UAL. Alex’s previous roles saw her work across creative production and artist management in fashion photography, PR for Central Saint Martins and innovation within the third sector.

Creative, curious and conceptual to the core, Alex is motivated to explore design as a tool for experimentation and as a unique catalyst for change in human behaviour and perspectives. Her design style is often experimental, with a human touch and sense of visual intrigue.

Alex is also an avid researcher and visual collector, fascinated with history and visual semiotics: a passion first sparked by her BA in social and cultural anthropology where she focused on consumer research and the use of anthropology in advertising (applying a user-centred approach). She later re-trained in design as a postgrad at Shillington College.
