Observer columnist Kenan Malik will join us to introduce his new book: Not So Black and White in this livestreamed event.

Not So Black and White offers a long view on the real origins of ‘race’ in Western thought, from the Enlightenment to today's "culture wars". Malik interweaves this lucid history with a direct challenge of received wisdom, and encourages us to stand against the politics of identity.
Malik is a writer, lecturer, broadcaster and columnist for the Observer. His previous books include the Orwell prize shortlisted From Fatwa to Jihad, The Meaning of Race, and The Quest for a Moral Compass. Join him as he explores whiteness and privilege, and questions fashionable concepts such as cultural appropriation. Malik will also take some of your own questions in this livestreamed event.
