The Assistant Producer will work in close collaboration with the internal production studio, agency creatives as well be a support for the production team on larger scale projects. The Assistant Producer has skills in the core principles of producing: communication, organization, planning and execution.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF ASSISTANT CREATIVE PRODUCER
*CREATIVE PRODUCTION PROCESS
Awareness of the agency process; seeking out guidance or explanation if unsure.
Get to know the people that are working on your projects, understand what they do and how their role fits into projects and the wider agency.
Build up your black book of suppliers by researching the best suppliers for your productions. Build relationships with them during projects. Make sure they remember you for the right reasons.
Making sure they’re paid on time and don’t need to chase for PO’s
Respecting your suppliers time, and give them as much time to produce your work as possible.
Keep them informed of change as early as possible.
Treat them as partners for your projects not just suppliers.
Learn and be able to explain the different processes and methodologies that we use to manage projects.
Start to understand the project lifecycle in line with the agency process. Be able to explain the project lifecycle including roles and responsibilities of the project stakeholders.
Begin to understand the production process to deliver across Print, Digital and social assets.
BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS AND EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION
Build your profile within the team and be seen as a valued contributor on projects; providing any information they may need.
Learn to manage expectations and keep your team up to speed with all information.
Be an active listener, learn to debate and express your opinions without arguing or being pushed into something you don’t believe is right for the project.
Be able to negotiate situations to ensure the best outcomes for the project.
Continually build your awareness of inspiring and creative work/trends.
Build your industry knowledge through sites like Creative Review, The Drum etc and bookmark sites where you find good work and then developed your narrative on the information
Start to build your black book of references and a taste for good work; being able to explain why and your POV.
Organise show & tell sessions to get creative partners in to demonstrate their capabilities/showreels/books etc
Understand the importance of project profitability.
Learn how to estimate and reconcile your projects.
Focus on getting your projects delivered on budget, in time and in a quality you can be proud of.
Begin to recognise how the difference in creative craft can impact the final creative output, and how it can lead to outstanding work.
Ask questions and be inquisitive of other CP’s about work that shows great craft levels and understand how it was achieved.
EXPERIENCE AND MILESTONES IN THE ROLE
Assisting CP’s and SCP’s on larger projects.
Begin to take on smaller projects with line management oversight.
Assisting in producing final production assets for projects.
Confidently delivering smaller projects from inception through to delivery with line management oversight
