To find and produce stories of interest and distinction, working specifically with the Business and Economics Editor. To newsgather and produce high quality packages and live reports for all platforms, focusing particularly on exclusive and distinctive stories in line with the broader ITV News agenda.
To be fully briefed on UK and international business and economics issues on a daily basis, spotting stories and trends as required
To work closely with the Business and Economics Editor to bring creative ideas to screen
Drive original journalism, both on diary stories and longer term investigations
Work on location to find the best angles/elements for ITV News coverage
To write scripts and produce graphics when required
To ensure location material is delivered safely and in good time for transmission
To work closely with the Head of UK News and the Home Planning team to ensure co-ordination on stories and in the planning operation
Research stories for the best elements, lines, and angles
Commission interviews and picture sequences
Research, select, and edit archive material
Ensure that all work is within the various legal and regulatory frameworks applicable to all news
To work with the rest of the Business, Economics and Consumer unit and in general news on occasion
Ability to drive and champion the business and economics agenda internally

Good understanding of the ITV News agenda and its audience.
Particular interest in Business and Economics news of all types.
High level of technical ability in editing and production, eg graphic visualisation of data
A track record of generating and delivering original journalism
Confidence to travel at short notice, and operate unsupervised away from base.
Concise writing style with flair, accuracy, and focus.
Rich pool of ideas for stories, angles, and treatments, primarily in the Business and Economics brief.
A track record of creative reporting and producing
Good communicator and team player, with a positive attitude.
Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and compliance.
Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making.
A solid understanding of television production and newsgathering techniques
Excellent written and spoken English with a flair for scripting tight packages
An understanding of online news publishing and ideas of how to improve business and economics output
