We're looking for a Business Development Lead to join our Strategic Partnerships and Business Development team.
The Business Development Lead will support the Director, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development to shape and deliver the Guardian's revenue diversification strategy.
Responsible for research and identification of new revenue opportunities for the Guardian, a large focus of the role will be on business case development and project management on launching new business initiatives.
About the Role
In conjunction with the Director, Strategic Partnerships and Business Development, you'll support on developing and delivering the Guardian's revenue diversification strategy.
Key Responsibilities
  • Researching opportunities to diversify the Guardian's revenue mix.
  • Define and manage strategic frameworks for assessing new business opportunities.
  • Assess the potential value, brand fit and level of investment required, as well as the impact on the Guardian's operations.
  • Evaluation of strategic direction for existing e-commerce businesses
  • Identify need for, and lead, cross functional teams and working groups to deliver new revenue opportunities against GNM strategic objectives. Ensuring the cross functional team is working together effectively and that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined.
  • Building implementation plans for each opportunity that we recommend to move ahead with, ensuring we have thought through how we could deliver it and make it sustainable.
About You
  • Extensive experience in business case development with the ability to identify opportunities for growth
  • Experience analysing market trends, assessing competitors, and using these to inform strategic planning
  • Ability to generate new ideas, and adapt to changing market conditions
  • Strong organisational and project management skills
  • Experience in business and P&L management preferable
  • Experience in financial modelling preferable
  • People management experience
  • You'll be a self starter with an entrepreneurial mindset
  • Ideally you'll have experience working in media/publishing but this isn't essential.
We're operating in a hybrid working model with a mix of office based and remote based work. You'll be expected to come into our London office 3 days a week.
