The Focus of the role:
As the driving force behind content creation and strategy for Parkers.co.uk and Car Magazine’s product site, your role will be instrumental in expanding our reach and growing our commerce content. You’ll become an expert in cutting-edge website practices, working closely with SEO specialists and developers to implement these insights, while also guiding a team of writers on how to bring these best practices to life.
In this role, you’ll partner with the Content Commerce Editor to lead our digital strategy forward, working seamlessly with both the CoCo team and the Parkers and Car editorial teams. Your leadership will be key to expanding the Autos Content Commerce portfolio, and you’ll support recruitment, onboarding, and the professional development of our talented junior team members.

This role will offer hybrid working – 2 days in our Peterborough office, and the rest working from home.
Main Responsibilities:
  • Using your journalistic and industry experience, you will help the Commercial Content Editor to manage and develop members of the digital editorial team, including setting and monitoring team KPIs, attending regular 121 meetings and mentoring junior writers
  • Managing the day-to-day running of Parkers and Car digital strategy and your direct reports
  • Supporting the editor with creating, planning and implementing the content strategy, drawing on expertise from around the business to ensure the subjects we cover are relevant and topical
  • Editing, creating and optimising high-quality and helpful autos content that precisely meets the needs of our audience
  • Researching and planning comprehensive product tests and writing buyers’ guides in line with current best practise and SEO standards. This will include more complex and research-intensive topics and formats
  • Creating accompanying photographic material to provide our users with the best offers tailored to their needs
  • Customising content for various digital platforms, including email, considering the unique requirements and best practices for each
  • Running the autos strategy on sales events like Prime Day and Black Friday, with support from the Commercial Content Editor
  • Working in close collaboration with the wider editorial team, audience development and SEO management
What you'll bring:
  • Strong understanding of our audience, topics, specialist knowledge, and can present complex content clearly and engagingly.
  • Possess advanced SEO skills to get our content ranked.
  • Bring experience in writing news, features, and product reviews, with a knack for guiding readers in purchasing decisions.
  • Familiar with content KPIs and know how to optimize articles for performance.
  • Data-savvy and proficient with analytics tools to boost content impact and rankings.
  • Passionate about leadership, have a collaborative mindset, and a can-do attitude to support team growth.
  • Exceptional writing and communication skills.
  • Self-driven, well-organized, and manage time and priorities effectively.
  • Skilled in photography and comfortable appearing in content when needed.
