Purpose of the Role
The Financial Controller’s role is an integral link between the controllership function, operational finance and the business. The role is key in ensuring the integrity of the Dentsu CXM balance sheet and ensuring the control environment is compliant with UK&I policies (including JSOX). It includes oversight of revenue recognition and assurance and expects as large involvement in maintaining a robust process in this area.
Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring integrity and robustness of balance sheet reconciliations prepared on a monthly basis and submitted via Blackline.  Approving these reconciliations and ensuring they are completed each month in line with documented KPI’s.
  • Reviewing and approving appropriate journals as prepared by the offshore team (over certain thresholds). Ensuring appropriate back up and accuracy of these journals.
  • Assisting in regular reviews and follow ups of aged balances (e.g. accrued income, WIP, debtors) on the balance sheet – challenging balances that do not have sufficient support to pass through an audit. Taking an active role in the improvement of working capital by suggesting process improvements, or other ways, to reduce the aged balances.
  • Ensuring accruals and other balances are appropriate, valid and sufficiently supported in order to pass through audit.
  • Preparing analysis v prior/ budget/ reforecast on various balances as requested by Group Finance.
  • Ensuring compliance and remediation for JSOX and ICF on an ongoing basis.
  • Working with Controllership to implement Global and UK&I policies across Dentsu CXM – ensuring compliance and assist with improving UK&I Controllership KPI’s.
  • Assisting with interim and year end audit process by providing audit evidence to support reported figures and statutory accounts.
  • Assisting with preparation and review of statutory accounts.
  • Ad hoc finance requests from Financial Controller or Commercial Team
Qualifications + Skills
  • Part or fully qualified accountant (ACA/ ACCA/ CIMA or equivalent)
  • Strong management accounting knowledge across all Finance functions.
  • Proven experience with accounting software.
  • Experience in working for a medium/large organisation and possibly with an outsourced function.
  • Experience in dealing with a central business reporting tool, separate to the ERP used for day-to-day.
  • JSOX or SOX experience.
