THE ROLE
A collaborative creative leader, you have a strong understanding of what makes you stand out from the crowd.  You can delegate effectively, communicate brilliantly and inspire passionately.  
You love the challenge of developing, stretching, and finessing the creative output of your team whilst inspiring and holding them accountable, to do the same.  You are diplomatic, inclusive and respectful and actively participate in building and supporting our team culture. You will work towards developing your understanding of a team strategy and managing direct reports accordingly.  
You can build and articulate a clear brand and platform strategy, understanding what defines creative executions on different 360 platforms.  Experienced at bringing your vision to life when pitching, briefing, and collaborating with clients and colleagues, your storytelling builds excitement and is infectious.  You are inspired by a diverse range of sources, that you draw upon for your references.  
You understand that audiences lie at the heart of everything we produce.  Highly strategic in your approach, you are a natural problem solver and an expert at identifying insights that drive audience behaviours.  You understand how this impacts the creative execution and helps us hit our KPIs.  You respect production, working closely with them to determine and maintain timelines, budgets and resource.  Your collaboration skills are key to elevating the work and you have the drive to make great work better, no matter the brief, the audience, or the feedback.
DAY TO DAY
Leadership
  • You are collaborative and lead by example, setting the tone for the whole team to aspire to and follow.
  • You know what is involved in building trust and influencing your stakeholders, motivating your collaborators and are open to all contributions.
  • You take responsibility for your region or brand, building a clear strategic approach in line with business objectives.
  • You line manage Creatives, recruiting, training, developing and appraising direct reports and the wider creative team, in a fair and consistent manner.
  • You ensure output is highly targeted and respects brand values and all activity is undertaken in line with company and legislative guidelines.
  • You work closely with and support, relevant Creative Directors and production staff, continuously improving the team’s output and processes.
Accountabilities
  • Develop strong and collaborative working relationships with a team of regional marketers, programme managers and media planners to ensure that the work is effective within the territory it serves, whilst being culturally sensitive.
  • Creatively direct effective, insight driven, brand, social and programme promotional campaigns and trails, based on marketing briefs.
  • Demand high creative and production standards that deliver at pace, on time & on budget, respecting brand values and dictated by promotional currency.
  • Keen critical thinking and feedback techniques, enabling autonomy and independence within your direct reports whilst elevating all creative output.
  • Responsible for communication within the team, ensuring key messages are communicated in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • An understanding of Ofcom guidelines and other relevant legislative guidelines.
  • An awareness of Health and Safety issues in the workplace and on location.
  • Be aware of and operate within the relevant company policies, upholding and promoting BBC values.

  • Delivery of effective and inspiring creative strategy for your team, brands and region.
  • Innovative and varied approach to multi-platform creative, always looking to produce the work you want to see in the world.
  • Positive staff survey results in line with industry and BBC Studios scores, including positive colleague and stakeholder feedback.

  • Excellent collaboration and feedback skills, supporting a high performing team.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the editorial and ethical standards of the BBC.
  • Comprehensive understanding of the budgetary constraints and implications within which BBC Studios Creative teams work – ie. BBC accountability / value for money.
WHAT DOES IT TAKE?
Key Criteria
  • Solution focused and decisive, particularly under pressure.
  • Audience focused with an awareness and understanding of the latest broadcast, streaming & social trends and landscapes
  • Must be an outstandingly collaborative creative in your own right, with strong leadership and a hunger to inspire and deliver outstanding, award-winning work.
  • Ability to interpret marketing & programming strategies and priorities to best devise and deliver your own creative strategy.
  • Proven track record of leading and inspiring a collaborative team of creatives, instilling confidence through clear expectations, assisting to identify areas for improvement, recognising achievements, and feeding back objectively.
Desirable
  • Clear knowledge of the appropriate production processes, relevant tools and techniques to work within given budget and timeline.
  • Direct experience of producing assets for streaming, digital and social platforms a plus.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety Guidelines.
  • Strong planning & organisational skills to manage projects.
  • Resilience and stamina to sustain performance when under pressure from a high volume of work and conflicting priorities.
  • Fluent in English with some experience or knowledge of localised languages and/or sensibilities within EMEA advantageous.

PACKAGE DESCRIPTION
Job Reference: 16718 Band: E Salary: £58,000 - £65,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Permanent role)  Location: Office Base is London. This is a hybrid role and the successful candidate will balance office working with home working)
