Role purpose and overview
  • This is an important writing role for a growing department at The Telegraph
  • You will need to be motivated and energetic with the ability to work fast and deliver engaging and factually accurate features under pressure
  • You’ll be required to write smart, engaging evergreen health features about a range of health topics
  • Alongside stand alone features you’ll be asked to update existing features to ensure the information up to date and factually accurate
  • You may also be required to write supporting fact boxes or do short interviews to support other pieces that we run
Key responsibilities
  • Writing health features (evergreen guides and short features)
  • Generating ideas that will work across all platforms will be a key part of the role
  • Developing contacts within the world of health to bring in exclusive stories, experts, gurus and scientific research studies will also be a key part of your role.
  • Generating actionable reactive news feature ideas for health which can be commissioned or you can write
  • Updating guides and supporting the health features commissioners with additional information or boxes they may need
Essential vs desirable skills required for the role
  • Experience of writing at speed on sometimes challenging and complicated topics.
  • Experience of interviewing experts
  • A good knowledge of how to draw from multiple experts and use varied data and studies
  • Strong digital skills
  • An understanding of analytics tools and how best to use them
  • Ability to work across a number of projects and respond quickly and accurately to keep up with the news agenda
  • A keen understanding of the Telegraph audience and an ability to pitch engaging ideas our subscribers will be interested in
