At a glance:
  • Salary range - The Partnership salary for this role is set at £53,000 - £85,000 (dependant on experience)
  • Contract type - This position is a Permanent contract
  • Working pattern/flexible working - We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a blended working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between the office and home based upon your personal needs whilst balancing the needs of the business. The Proposition Strategy and Development team aim for around 1-2 days a week in the office to connect and on a more ad-hoc basis to attend key meetings but again, are flexible on this.
  • Location - This role is based at our London Head Office campus. Please note, any cost incurred as a result of travel to the office is the responsibility of the successful candidate. There is no travel allowance for this role.
  • Please note, The normal place of work for this role is Victoria, London pending the relocation of the London office to Pimlico during the summer of 2024 after which the normal place of work will become Pimlico, London.
About the role:
At the John Lewis Partnership we have created a successful Insights and Media offering.  However, as the Retail Media industry is in growth, we are also looking to significantly grow our offering.  Creating Insight & Media propositions which create WIN-WIN-WIN outcomes: (i) more engaging experiences for Customers, (ii) growth for JLP, and (iii) growth for suppliers.
To deliver against this ambition, we need to accelerate our Retail Media maturity and planning capabilities by embedding more insight into how we create and deliver intelligent, impactful insight-led activation plans that help meet brand and trading objectives. The purpose of this role is to lead ownership for devising and delivering our strategy for Insight-led Media planning capability by understanding our current sources of Insight and develop a strategy and approach for how these should be best leveraged to support Media planning, and cascade and embed this with our Media Sales teams for both John Lewis and Waitrose. The role will also work closely with our Insight vendor partners to ensure that the full insight capability available is maximised to support our business aspiration.
Key responsibilities:
  • Devise, lead and own strategy for Insight-led Media planning for the lines of business
  • Cascade and embed Insight-led Media planning Strategy and approach with Media Sales team
  • Create framework and templates for Media Sales teams to follow that they can utilise to support Media plan creation for lines of business
  • Deliver training on Insight-led Media planning approaches and role-model effective supplier engagement approach to Media Sales teams
  • Act as SME and single point of contact for Media Sales and cross-functional teams on the topic of Insight-led Media planning
  • Support insight generation and interpretation for strategic supplier top to tops and key annual planning meetings
  • Own the capability roadmap for evolving insight-led Media planning practice and work collaboratively across the business and third-party partners to ensure delivery of agreed milestones
Essential skills you’ll need:
  • Significant experience in using data and insight to help build Media proposals for brands
  • Commercial experience working with brands
  • Relevant experience working in a brand and marketing team for a Supplier, Retailer or Agency
  • Experience working with complex projects and managing multiple Stakeholders
  • Evidence in strong written and verbal communication
  • Experience in insight and analytics/data analysis
Desirable skills you’ll have:
  • Further qualifications in marketing or business
