Account Director

Harman, a renowned brand in the audio industry, has joined the Havas Entertainment team! HARMAN is a global leader in connected car technology, lifestyle audio innovations, professional audio and lighting solutions, and digital transformation. Brands within the Harman portfolio include JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG and Arcam.
We manage Harman’s EMEA multi-market campaigns, operating across 12 markets, which can be briefed by local, EMEA or Global markets. Our focus is on the strategy, planning and implementation of both upper and lower funnel activity, designed to raise awareness and drive consideration of the brand in-market, flexing according to market stage and local market nuances. Working with the client as a central function across all their campaign launches, means that multiple campaigns can be briefed into the team at any one time.
We are looking for an exceptional international Account Director to lead on a range of EMEA and Global projects, supported by an Account Manager and Account Executive, and reporting directly into a Client Partner. The wider team will also comprise of a Managing Partner, and an additional Account Director, Account Manager and Account Executive.
As an Account Director you will be the day-to-day lead, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the account, building strong client relationships across key markets, producing brilliant and fully considered media recommendations, and identifying ways to continually strengthen the output of your team. You will work closely with the EMEA clients within your remit, managing the day-to-day relationship and delivering excellence across all planning and specialist team outputs.
The position requires a minimum of 4+ years working within a media agency environment. We need an enthusiastic and pro-active candidate who is accustomed to the pressures and quick turnarounds of key account handling across all media. The candidate should showcase specific skills and experience relating to digital buying and planning. Familiarity with insight tools such as GWI, Similarweb, YouGov, Comscore etc. would be beneficial as well.
All-rounders who can have well informed client conversations; channel neutrality and brand and performance, skillsets geared towards the needs of the clients.  A focus on the discipline of media experiences is key.
This person should be curious about the worlds of business, marketing, comms and media. They should be constantly pushing for the highest standard of thinking and delivery for clients.  They must be equally passionate about the value that a media experience can bring to a client’s business and are training their teams to deliver against this. Their general channel knowledge is always on point.
They should be able to:
  • Develop a strong relationship with clients built on expertise, confidence, trust, enthusiasm, and a deep understanding of their business and market – this is a client facing role and you will be the first port of call for client requests
  • Demonstrate experience with international account planning and campaign coordination, supporting the team to manage multiple campaign briefs simultaneously
  • Lead the response to brief process, including:
- Translating the business and marketing objectives into tangible media objectives
- Detailed audience targeting analysis, utilising Havas planning tools to inform segmentations / audience cohorts (GWI and similar)
- Distilling category and competitor analysis into identifiable brand opportunities, including nuances by market
- Creating detailed media rationales which clearly identify the role for media, key channels, partner selection, media flighting, KPIs and budget allocation
- Build a measurement framework including KPIs in conjunction with specialists
- Identification of media innovation opportunities
  • Own media plans and plan changes, ensuring all briefed budgets are adhered to
  • Managing weekly status meetings, ensuring all documents are updated and next steps clearly identified
  • Oversee the billing process and campaign reconciliations
  • Support the team on weekly/monthly reporting requirements and provide clear and actionable optimisations
  • Lead the development of PCAs to clearly identify areas of success and future areas of opportunity
  • Keep clients informed of relevant reports, including competitive insights and marketplace data
  • Build relationships with internal Havas teams (activation, traders, buyers, creative & strategic) and external media partners to create innovative and industry leading campaigns
  • Support the continuous development of the Account Manager and Account Executive on your team through relevant training opportunities
In addition to this you will be expected to:
  • Be highly visible to clients regarding strategy & planning discussions
  • Management and development of direct reports
  • Work closely with data and strategy communities to ensure that we continue to evolve the media experience that we deliver to clients
  • Work collaboratively with the client leadership team to drive overall strategic relationship with client
  • Build relationships with creative / content stakeholders to ensure that content is optimised to the recommendation
  • Build relationships with key media owners to help evolve recommendations and stay on top of industry developments
  • Lead by example, as a senior member of the agency your behaviour sets the tone for the rest of your team
  • Contribute to new business efforts
  • Make sure that our best work is entered into industry awards
  • Keep on top of the latest thinking on how media works
  • Manage a team of 2 including 1x AMs and 1 x AEs but working within a wider team of including another AD, AM, AE.
Due to the nature of our agency and business, the candidate must have good communication skills; able to multi-task to an exceptional level; good organisational skills and understand that a high level of service to our clients is expected.
Other Information
  • Office hours are 9.15am – 5.30pm Monday to Friday.
  • 25 days holiday per annum.
  • 4 days mental health allowance
  • Full training will be provided once evaluation of skill set has been undertaken.
  • Hybrid Working (3 days a week in the office)
