Role purpose and overview
Telegraph Life is a comprehensive, trusted, and useful repository of resource journalism, expert advice, first person pieces and interactive tools that will empower readers to improve their day to day lives, from how to pick the best mortgage to where to go on holiday.
As Life App Editor you will be responsible for showcasing the Telegraph’s lifestyle content on a dedicated page. You will be tapped into subscriber needs as well as the wider news agenda, and offer useful and inspiring content that meets the standards expected of a world class news publisher.
You will work across a breadth of content, including Money, Travel, Health, TV & Film and Recipes, and will work closely with some of the country’s best journalists, designers and producers. This is an exciting role that will drive subscriptions and increase audience engagement.

Key responsibilities
  • Showcase the best of Telegraph Life by curating a selection of informative and captivating stories and compelling tools, presented with engaging headlines and arresting visuals.
  • Ensure the presentation of the Telegraph Life page in the app reflects the interests of our subscribers and potential subscribers, and is in line with the tone and consistency of The Telegraph brand.
  • Work with video, pictures and design, as well as digital producers, to curate and promote appropriate visuals that captivate readers and encourage engagement through the page.
  • Compose and send lively, eye-catching app notifications.
  • Run headline tests to ensure we are presenting our content in the most appealing way.
  • Collaborate with editorial desks across the newsroom on plans for promoting their best content.
  • Monitor analytics to understand what is performing well and what could be improved and feedback to desk heads.
Essential vs desirable skills required for the role
  • Digital experience at a respected consumer website, magazine, newspaper or broadcaster. (Essential)
  • Understanding of evergreen content, utility journalism and the news agenda. (Essential)
  • Expertise in digital publishing, with knowledge of SEO a prerequisite. (Essential)
  • Ability to write headlines with a variety of tones. (Essential)
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to make decisions under pressure. (Essential)
  • An understanding of the Telegraph audience and subscription model. (Desirable)
  • Track-record of innovation in digital storytelling (Desirable)
