Our Team:
The Content Commerce team is leading Bauer’s investment in the monetisation of its web content via the exciting and increasingly important affiliate revenue channel. The team is responsible for the creation of new content and optimisation of existing content across a range of Bauer’s most important sites, including;  Heatworld, Closer, Grazia, Yours Mother & Baby, Parkers, MCN, and What’s the Best.
We are constantly exploring content and commercial strategies to maximise engagement and revenues, which makes it an exciting time to join the team. The editorial team’s content strategy is service journalism; we are continually sourcing, researching and reviewing products that our audiences are interested in buying, providing them with first-rate recommendations, reviews and advice to help them make an informed purchase. We look to support savvy shoppers with the best of everything; from trending beauty products and gym leggings, to outfit ideas and holiday deals.
The Focus of the Role:
The Senior Commercial Content Writer is responsible for ensuring that Bauer’s portfolio of lifestyle sites generates the maximum possible affiliate revenue from its partners, through engaging content that helps and informs the needs of our audience.
Reporting into the Deputy Commercial Content Editor and working closely with the SEO team and insights teams, you will work across several of Bauer’s lifestyle brands including Heatworld, Closer, and Grazia.
You will be required to source, create and optimise engaging evergreen and trending content, aimed at driving traffic to our websites, and maximising affiliate revenue via our partners. Content optimisation will include headline choice, featured image selection, content selection, content layout, product choice, product availability/replacement, product prioritisation, and actioning analytical and audience development insights.
Part of your role will also involve creating newsletters that showcase our content, working with the appropriate teams and editors to devise strategies to maximise their performance. You will also be required to assist with key administrative tasks as required to support the day-to-day running of the team.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Deputy Editor and Commercial Content Editor with projects, strategy implementation and day-to-day running of the lifestyle team
  • Create and optimise content designed to deliver affiliate revenue, rank in search and perform on social media
  • Assist with the strategy and creation of newsletters
  • Help grow revenue and affiliate activity across Bauer’s portfolio of sites
  • Research and source new affiliate opportunities on Bauer brands and beyond
  • Working to agreed key performance targets including article upload and update goals
  • Stay up to date with the latest affiliate marketing trends
  • Collaborate with colleagues and wider editorial to create additional affiliate marketing content
  • Support meeting the ROI and sales targets through affiliate channels and partnerships
  • Develop working relationships with relevant editorial contacts to ensure clear communication
  • Building high-quality working relationships with external partners
What You'll Bring:
  • Very strong written and verbal communication skills – including content creation and optimisation at a senior level
  • A passion for content creation and the wider digital industry
  • A thorough understanding of SEO, social media and news platforms
  • Experience in using image editing software (e.g. Canva)
  • Excellent people skills
  • Thorough experience in working with a content management system (CMS)
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • A working knowledge of affiliate marketing and online partnerships/trends
  • Experience in driving affiliate revenue in an agency/retailer or publisher environment
  • Desirable - A working knowledge of major analytics programs e.g. Google Analytics
