The A Side: A Day in The Life
UMUK value e-Commerce as a key foundational channel to connect artists and fans.
This is a fast paced and challenging role that will be pivotal in helping to manage a portfolio of ecommerce stores for one of Universal’s frontline labels.
We are seeking an experienced Senior eCommerce Manager to manage a selection of evergreen artist stores. From driving fast paced music and merchandise campaigns through to streetwear collaboration drops, and album pre-orders on artist stores; we are looking for a store manager with deep eCommerce merchandising experience rooted in always offering the best possible customer experience to our fans.
This Senior eCommerce Manager will directly manage the relationship with one of our frontline labels, working closely with senior stakeholders to deliver results from multiple artist’s eCommerce stores. Using your knowledge of album pre-order campaigns, UX and Shopify, the successful candidate will work cross functionally across the eCommerce team, tech, customer service, operations and the label.
Bringing solid Shopify and eCommerce system experience, this role will suit a creative problem-solver with the ability to work on multiple projects at once. You will bring a confident calmness to handle pressured and time-sensitive launches for some of the biggest artists in the world. A passion for great eCommerce retailing and an obsession to provide the best possible UX is a must, as is previous experience within music eCommerce.
The B Side: Skills & Experience
Be Strategic
  • Developing and overseeing the launch of new artist stores across the group, working with the store management team, developers, and operations team to oversee timely builds and launches
  • Working closely with internal labels, you will use your music eCommerce, commercial and merchandising experience to formulate & execute D2C strategies to drive sales conversions
  • Build relationships with the label and report on sales trends and store performance, manage escalations, identify campaign pitfalls and share learnings to inform future campaigns
  • Analyse site analytics and reporting to understand drop-off, monitor cart abandonment, identify friction in checkout process, and improve site engagement to increase customer acquisition
  • Guide and coach the label on eCommerce best practise, advising what will drive the best conversion rate and how we can provide the best UX for their artist’s fans.
  • Discover & test new eCommerce trends & innovations within Shopify, UX & web design in order to maximise the performance of all Universal’s artist stores.
  • Be a voice of expertise within the store management team – advising and supporting junior store managers & assistants on best practise across the UMUK eCommerce tech stack.
Be Operational
  • Daily store management of a portfolio of artist stores, managing basic theming and UX, product set up, merchandising and category management in line with eCommerce best practice.
  • Day to day management of Shopify stores, ensuring homepage optimization and offers and buy buttons are appropriate and effective.
  • Work with e-Commerce Ops and customer service to resolve issues on supply chain, ensure products stay in stock and constantly measure the customer feedback loop; ensure customer happiness and loyalty.
  • Manage the eCommerce release schedule with the Label/RO contact.
  • Manage relationships with our key partners in the e-Commerce space, notably the Labels, brand owners, tech team and finance teams, operations team and customer service.
  • Project manage the day-to-day activities & future projects on our PM tool Monday.com with the Central team + Labels.
Be Administrative
  • Work with the Label/RO in delivering sales, stock, and store performance reporting.
  • Implementation & ongoing management of SEO and meta-tagging across stores.
  • Utilise functionality of the Shopify stack to create amazing customer journeys and experiences for the label’s artist stores.
Person Specification
Necessary
  • Experience in managing a portfolio of ecommerce stores
  • Experience of working within music ecommerce on album pre-order campaigns
  • Knowledge of record label process and an understanding of OCC rules to ensure chart eligibility on artist campaigns
  • Shopify experience and ability to work with store CMS, themes, and an understanding of core Shopify apps
  • Experience of working with stock management and order management systems
  • A strong understanding of core eCommerce best practice with clear results delivering of great customer experiences
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and client facing/consulting skills
  • A passion for providing the best UX for all fans/customers
  • A commercial & analytical approach to business, adept at working and achieving store revenue targets
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • An understanding of site performance metrics and user behaviour to enable business decision-making
  • Understanding of paid marketing including paid social, programmatic & PPC
  • Understanding of SEO & accessibility best practices
Desirable
  • PM tools – preferably Monday.com
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Knowledge of Google Analytics and ecommerce reporting tools
  • Experience of working in cross-functional teams to drive projects to completion with an ability to react quickly and calmly to changing artist & label needs and deadlines
  • Ability to multi-task, problem solve, and execute tasks with accuracy in a high-pressure, fast-paced agile environment
  • Line-management experience
