This role is offered on a hybrid contract giving you the opportunity to also work from home three days a week.
Comic Relief has enjoyed a long and successful history of engaging the UK Public in our flagship campaigns, Red Nose Day and Sports Relief. And, in our 40th year, we’re re-imagining our integrated fundraising marketing approach and programme.
The role will support, develop and implement marketing strategies for multiple fundraising campaigns and initiatives in support of organisational income and engagement objectives, crucial in helping us achieve our goal of a ‘Just World Free From Poverty’.
Interviews are expected to take place on the 29th of October.
Working as part of multi-disciplinary project teams, identify and define the marketing requirements for agreed fundraising campaigns and initiatives through expert facilitation of colleagues and develop and execute the required marketing plans to support fundraising strategies and objectives including directly driving fundraising income generation. This may include for example working with internal and/ or external teams to create:
o Creative campaign propositions/ strategic approaches to fundraising campaigns
o Hero campaign assets such as advertising asset concepts or marketing photography shoots.
Work with the Fundraising Creative Lead to develop campaign and marketing briefs for wider internal delivery teams and as required, external agencies, as well as directly producing assets and materials that can be shared internally and externally to bring campaigns and initiatives to life.
Work with stakeholders to define and specify how marketing activities will contribute to, and help achieve, fundraising goals. Specify key channels and tactics to deliver objectives (from awareness to conversion), whilst also ensuring comms content/ activity is consistent, strategically aligned and focussed.
Work with digital fundraising experts (for example in paid media) and delivery experts (for example in content production or third parties) to implement the agreed plan and ensure that it works effectively with other fundraising priorities and agendas for Comic Relief. This will also include:
o The management of BBC Marketing Campaigns with BBC Marketing and BBC Creative
o Day to day working management, together with Creative Lead, of campaign creative agencies.
Working with the corporate partnerships and new business teams to introduce creative campaign propositions to new and existing corporate partners with the goal of achieving wider integration and alignment across campaigns to achieve enhanced conversion and income generation.
Directly track and report on performance as well as identifying improvements or opportunities to optimise and increase success
Working with relevant colleagues, proactively participate in and where required lead some aspects of business planning cycles, prioritising activities and setting clear and realistic objectives based on capacity, expertise and team aspirations
Keep abreast of the fundraising marketplace to identify opportunities to enhance Comic Relief’s fundraising campaigns
Play an active role in the Fundraising Team, working collaboratively to enable inclusivity and diversity in order to drive high performance and an action-oriented culture
Line manage, coach and develop the Fundraising Marketing Manager to successfully deliver in their role
Provide balanced, constructive feedback, undertake effective performance management to embed accountability and proactively support the professional development and growth of staff.
Maintain regular two way communication and dialogue with staff, ensuring information is cascaded and escalated as needed.
Model an enabling, inclusive and empowering leadership style that builds a values-based culture throughout the charity
Knowledge of fundraising campaigns, fundraising tactics, and digital fundraising channels
Knowledge and experience in developing and rolling out marketing planning and delivery approaches and methodologies across an organisation in support of delivering fundraising outcomes
Strategic marketing planning:
o Experience of planning marketing activity or projects for campaigns that drive audiences to take action
o Capable of analysing complex information; filtering and refining in order to produce clear briefs and effective marketing plans
o Experience of marketing planning and tracking, including media planning and awareness measurements
o Experience of creating campaign alignment and channel alignment to optimise campaigns.
o Experience of working collaboratively with a range of team members
o Experience of facilitating others to produce clear briefs
o Experience of managing external parties such as creative agencies and broadcast partner marketing teams as well as working collaboratively with corporate partners.
o Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills with the ability to inspire and influence stakeholders
o Strong interpersonal skills.
Project management experience, able to deploy project management methodology
A self starter with proven ability to work independently, managing own work plan to deliver against set goals and objectives
Ability to understand risks, issues and dependencies within a project / campaign and to synthesise this information to provide accurate and timely information to drive decision making
Line management experience
Experience of fundraising for international and national causes
Accredited fundraising or marketing qualification
