As part of BT Digital, we’re spearheading and driving the digital transformation of one of the UK’s most recognisable brands. We’re talking about driving new digital experiences for our customers in new markets, transforming our architecture and developing industry leading capabilities in Data, AI, Fintech and Healthcare. We’re stripping out unnecessary complexity for customers and colleagues and introducing agile methodologies.
Within Digital, the COO (Chief Operating Officer) team plays a critical role in driving the Digital transformation: we set and implement the overall BT Digital strategy and plans and we are the engine room driving the outcomes required for our customers.
The Digital Strategy team defines and runs the strategy for a £1.1Bn Digital organisation. The role will align c£500-600m annual CapEx and c£400m OpEx investment to the Digital strategy and set the strategic enablers for £1Bn+ value from Data & AI. The role will need to influence and align BT’s strategy, CFU strategies and the Digital Strategy and manage internal and external stakeholders at Board level.
Translate the Digital Strategy into a multi-year Digital roadmap (fully interlocked with BT’s £3bn transformation plan), identifying clear ‘moments of truth’ and critical decision-points across product, platform, supplier, workforce roadmaps, and key outcomes for 3-5years.
Digital roadmap will include: definition of prioritised strategic initiatives with clear owners (including transformation). The strategic initiatives will be mapped to OKRs / KPIs and key high level delivery outcomes, underpinned by key decisions required to deliver. Incl product, platform, supplier, workforce roadmaps
Define and lock-in challenging multi-year outcome-based targets (OKRs / KPIs) that will enable the strategy, including targets for workforce sizing, productivity, supplier costs, efficiency, transformation, strategy investment choices, tech development, AI/Gen AI and growth
Definition of the Digital and CDIO Goals (aligned with Digital OKRs/KPIS)
Use strategic priorities to provide recommendations on investment weightings to ensure alignment to strategy: Provide input to Finance team with recommendations on investment weighting to support any strategic shifts required
Investment Case Approval (as part of the Digital Investment board): Evaluate and approve Digital investment cases, ensuring they align with the strategy
Strategic assessment of MTP (Medium term plan): Review of MTP to check that the plan will execute on the strategy: outcomes may include recommendations for additional initiatives / programmes or changes to targets, or updates to strategy
In-year review: Review performance and delivery (inputs from Delivery transformation teams) and review whether any changes to programmes (scope, targets, outcomes) required based on strategy, or may require change to strategy
Grow strong relationships and drive collaboration with multiple stakeholders through a demonstration of industry knowledge, strategic thinking, and the application of this to solve challenges.
Long-Term Planning: Expertise in creating and maintaining strategic roadmaps that outline key initiatives and milestones aligned with organizational goals.
