At a glance
We have an exciting opportunity to join our Social Marketing team as a Social Marketing Senior Manager. This role focuses on our owned channel social activity, helping us to reach new audiences and is a key focus in our digital marketing strategy.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing Waitrose owned social channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest and Threads. You'll be responsible for a social content plan which drives reach and engagement to boost awareness of our brand messages.
We know flexible working is important to you, and it is important to us too. The Partnership has adopted a hybrid working approach meaning you'll be able to work a mixture between our Bracknell office and home based upon your personal needs, whilst balancing the needs of the business. There will also be an expectation to visit other locations/suppliers as the need arises.
> Salary - the range for this role is set at £53,000-£85,000. We are looking for candidates within the salary range of £53,000-£75,000.

Through the running of our owned social media channels you will help to drive awareness of these Waitrose values to both new and existing customers. You will be responsible for organic social marketing as well as our advocacy programmes, Waitrose Farmers and Team Waitrose.
You will ensure that all social content integrates into the overall social media strategy (owned, earned and paid channels). Through ongoing measurement and optimisation, you will ensure that our campaigns are helping to drive our brand metrics.
You will operate in a collaborative matrix way of working with teams across Marketing, Content & Design, Customer Insight,, Customer Services and Communications.
This is a people manager role with 3 direct reports.
What will you be doing?
  • Develop an innovative social content strategy based on and aligned to our customer and overarching content plan, search insights and deliver strong ROI through ‘always on’ owned content.
  • Working with external agencies to develop fame-driving social media activity that drives talkability
  • Lead the social marketing team in finding and reacting to emerging trends to harness opportunities to drive virality
  • Support supplier funded opportunity as appropriate and agreed with the digital marketing media team.
  • Develop KPIs and ensure accurate reporting processes are in place to measure effectiveness and assist forward planning, flex the plan based on platform analytics, audience insight and trends.
  • Forecast and manage budgets, including generation and reporting of revenue against cost line.
  • Researching competitors’ activity.
  • Briefing video ad/creative to our Content & Design team or third parties.
  • Developing our Waitrose Farmers and Team Waitrose advocacy programmes.
  • Managing the owned social channels marketing team.
What you'll have?
  • Significant social marketing experience - well established skills and expertise required in the breadth of social marketing disciplines in order to deliver brand messages to customers in an innovative and engaging way.
  • Experience in using social trends and insights to inform plans - demonstrable skill and expertise required before starting in role.
  • Insight and analytics - experience in reporting, social media analytics and listening. Reviewing numbers and turning insights into actionable plans.
  • Creative thinking - delivering inspiring and relevant content that is channel centric, utilising formats and different aesthetic styles to tell engaging stories.
  • Significant experience of driving innovation in digital channels - can demonstrate approaches to social planning, creative articulation and across social platforms
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects at the same time and to work under pressure and to deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and relationship-building ability.
  • Multiple stakeholder management - strong levels of communication required for presenting to, reporting to and influencing multiple stakeholders.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team to drive results and communicate them effectively.

  • Any experience of grocery and/or retail would be helpful.
  • A passion for food!
  • Experience of wider digital marketing channels and how they influence Social & vice versa, specifically SEO, Email, Display & PPC.
