The Strategic Sourcing Manager will lead complex cross-functional projects working across both our branded and own-brand supply bases.
The role sits within a team of talent, bringing together colleagues from management consultancy, industry and retail backgrounds, to support our trading teams in delivering their strategic goals. This is an excellent role for an ambitious and motivated individual looking to gain breadth of experience. The role offers the ability to work across a variety of categories rotating across the year; for example, you could expect to work across our branded confectionery offering, our own-brand bread route to market and lead the charge on removing plastic from our produce fixture.
What you'll do
As the Strategic Sourcing Manager at Sainsbury's, you will play a pivotal role in driving our Next Level corporate strategy by leading complex cross-functional projects that span both our branded and own-brand supply bases. Your focus will be on analysing the value chain of our own-brand products, from farm to store, in order to inform strategic sourcing decisions and identify opportunities for mutual benefit with our suppliers. Additionally, you will manage the branded supplier investment process to deliver cost of goods reduction and introduce exciting new propositions in our stores. You will act as an ambassador for our corporate objectives, providing support and challenge to the trading teams and ensuring aligned decision-making through Steering Groups comprised of Category Directors and cross-functional leaders. The success of your role will rely on your ability to programme manage multiple projects, hold stakeholders accountable, and collaborate effectively with teams such as Buying, Supply Chain, Ranging, Category Planning, Finance, and Packaging. Throughout your work, you will demonstrate strategic thinking, commercial acumen, strong leadership qualities, and the ability to analyse data to generate valuable insights.
