Role purpose and overview
The Telegraph Media Group is seeking a Visual Editor to work on its ‘Better Life’ aspirational and informative journalism. Based in our Victoria newsroom and reporting to the Digital Production Editor (Business & Money), you will be working primarily with the Money and Health desks to ensure the visual presentation of their digital journalism reaches the required standard.
You will be highly motivated, quick to learn, resourceful and unflappable in the highly pressured environment of digital publications.
Key responsibilities
  • Commissioning, creating or sourcing illustrations and photography to work across digital platforms
  • Liaising with Telegraph Money and Telegraph Health’s digital production arms to meet their needs
  • Working closely with graphic designers and the picture desk to ensure a smooth delivery process
  • Making sure that everything published meets the Telegraph’s high production standards
Essential skills required for the role
  • Successful candidate will have experience working on a magazine or newspaper picture desk or in a picture library/agency, ideally in a digital role
  • Experience prioritising and successfully managing numerous projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately to tight deadlines and under pressure
  • Ability to conceptualise visual ideas and interpret creative briefs
  • Full of fresh and original ideas to bring challenging topics to life
  • Possess relevant contacts with picture libraries and agencies
  • Strong interest in news, current affairs and lifestyle
