The Vodafone Big Top 40 is a HUGE radio show counting down the most popular tunes of the moment. It plays out on over 200 stations including the likes of Capital FM and Heart, to over 2.4m listeners every week.
The Big Top 40 represents how popular a single really is, as it’s not just based on purchases but lots of other things too like radio plays, Spotify streams and even downloads.
So, when single launches moved to Fridays (and the rival Radio 1 chart moved with it), Big Top 40 saw an exciting opportunity to attract some nice new listeners to their Sunday show. A chance to make Big Top 40 an even BIGGER event and solidify its place as the UK’s biggest chart.
With festival season in full swing, we took Big Top 40 out to the masses as ‘Sunday’s biggest music event’. A reason to turn off Glastonbury re-runs and tune in to the radio for your musical fix.
We gave the event a summery, slick makeover to match and ran bold DOOH in malls across the country – where our audience hang out on weekends. We also ran campaigns across Facebook and Instagram to help push the message even further. And it was a whole lot of fun.
