  • Light source map
Light source mapA map showing the light sources that can be seen along the river Thames in Richmond. Screen printed in glow in the dark ink, the map is only interactive during darkness and shows the clusters of light that can be seen from the riverside to give the user comfort and sense of direction.

  • Ghost signs
Ghost signsThe art of hand-painting signs has diminished in recent decades as mechanised and digital printing processes have taken over. I sought out a ‘Ghost Sign’ tour in London’s Stoke Newington ran by subject devotee Sam Roberts. Each ghost sign uncovered and interesting story or insight into the history of the individual sign. I set myself the challenge of hand printing twenty newspapers. As a tribute to the sign painters, I went the long way around producing the papers, by hand rendering all of the typography of the ghost signs and printing the type piece by piece on newsprint.
  • Cyanometer
CyanometerInspired by the Cyanometer — a measuring tool designed to measure the blueness of the sky using an array of different shades of colour — I became obsessed with finding ways in which to measure other things using a similar process. This led me to create an interactive colour-measuring toolkit for children. Measuring tools, instructions and recording cards are designed with perforated edges to enable the user to learn in a practical way.
  • Dreamland
Dreamland‘Dreamland’ is an amusement park located in Margate, Kent. Following an 11-year ‘Save Dreamland’ campaign, the park is due to reopen this summer. Originally Margate flourished because of the train line links from London to the seaside. Dreamland was a key attraction for the town and its decline reflected the decline of the town itself. The introduction of the high speed rail link has reestablished the connection between London and Margate and the reopening of Dreamland is the final part of the rejuvenation of the town. I have designed a series of advertisements to promote the reopening of Dreamland, high lighting the buildings that have become derelict. With the approaching reopening of Dreamland I wanted to promote the Southeastern high speed train directly from St Pancras to Margate.
