- EIZO Student Photography Award *Winner*Red Dancing Shoes A year since the passing of my Grandad, I photographed my Grandmother in her favourite red dress. They had been ballroom dancing for over 60 years every week and were due to celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary just weeks before his passing. After his death my Grandmother didn't have the motivation to pick up her dancing shoes again. After a year, she felt the confidence to put her favourite red dancing shoes and favourite red dress. Her strength is carried on forward with a necklace that she always wears stating: 'Never Forget' in memory of my Grandad.
- Playschool?: Taking Play SeriouslyA dissertation exploring the importance of 'play' in design and design education. ------------ "We live in a society suspicious of play in the sense that we are relatively unsure about how play 'works'. With play being rooted in frivolous children's games, it is often overlooked by scholars and academics who often dismiss it as a senseless activity. Yet there are countelss theorists and social scientists such as Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, Stuart Brown and 'play profession Brian Sutton Smith who all advocate play as a vital part of neurological growth, particularly within the development of creativity in children." ------------
