  • 'Melting Man on a Roman Numeral Clock'
'Melting Man on a Roman Numeral Clock'This sculpture symbolises time, and the ways in which things and beings become unimportant and forgotten. Like candles burn out, and Roman numerals become unused, humans eventually 'melt' and loose value. The uncertainty of becoming forgotten becomes fear, and so this piece emphasises the inevitable moment where we will soon perish in a state of destruction.
  • ‘Celebration of Colour, the Colours of Culture’
‘Celebration of Colour, the Colours of Culture’We are products of those before us, who ventured far from origin home; in search of somewhere for their own. Over waves, vast bodies of water, bodies slaughtered, discriminatory ways disordered. Generational immigration led to our growing nations, something we must remember in celebration. We are descendants from those who ascended past western world hate, a generational debate on how we should appreciate the diversity of identity that has been blessed by those who initially were in search of a
  • 'The Code of Living'
'The Code of Living'Otto Jones is an 18-year-old boy discovering adventures through his daily routine. He is an extroverted introvert and from an outside perspective only seems to find company in himself. His best-friend takes form of a camcorder where he documents his moments. Through urban life, natural sceneries and train-ride shots an emotional parallel is met discovering not only new adventures but further finding himself. First Experience in a Museum/ Gallery setting: Work Experience at the Royal College of Music Museum: Working with old artefacts relating to the history of music which demonstrated quick and adaptive learning skills, understanding how behind the scenes of Museum work occurs (wearing gloves, gentle handling of the artefact, checking correct lighting and designing proper display of the exhibited object) Talking to the public about the history of instruments allowed me to employ my people skills, to discuss and learn together about the history of the instrument and portraits. This also allowed me to move around the building to learn new things while also teaching the public about the history of the Royal College of Music. Communication and Teamwork skills were engaged as I spoke to the museum team about making the museums a more inviting place, and ways in which we could use archived collections in future temporary exhibitions in the upstairs of the building.

Working with the public grew my people skills as a volunteer in Kew Gardens’ temperate house I had to invite people to learn about the plants, some agreed but others rejected, the openness to not only the public's rejection bit team rejection too in idea building lead personal and team working growth, to find different paths in building our project. During the volunteering sessions we had to build a game that linked to the Kew Gardens’ temperate house, working as a team developed my communication skills but also efficiency, organising and splitting tasks for us to complete to ensure a smooth operation. Multi-Tasking skills were also used as we had to collect primary and secondary research to curate this game, using historical research from Kew Gardens Archive to build a strong historical foundation regarding our game, to not only teach the public but to ignite enjoyment and enthusiasm.
