I am a third year Fashion Communication & Promotion student achieving high marks in all modules. Over the past 3 years areas of study have included visual merchandising, photography, styling, trend forecasting and branding. I have now begun to specialise in the visual aspect of branding, communication & promotion design, particularly the development of posters, logos and apps, following briefs to create appropriate brand identities, and magazine and layout design. This course has a large focus on teaching the importance of the creative process from initial research stages, to the big idea and on to the creative concept. This is a process I am now very familiar with and am able to apply to any briefs that I am issued in order to create an informed creative outcome.Outside of university I volunteer as part of the children charity camping organisation Forest School Camps (FSC). I have been part of this organisation since the age of 8 and after turning 18 I am now a voluntary member of staff, supervising children aged 7-17 on fortnight long camping trips around the UK. FSC is a huge part of my life and has been extremely influential on me as I have grown up, teaching me the importance of team work, self expression and having a hands on, learn by doing attitude. Further interests include independent magazine publishing, book binding and analogue photography. In this digital age I still have a love for all things tactile and hands on and these interests really influence my work.
I attended Berlin Fashion week on behalf of Aesthetica magazine. I gathered trend research and posted daily blogs which taught me how to adapt my writing tone to the needs of a client and also helped me understand trend forecasting and offered me insight into the emerging trends within fashion, lifestyle, graphic design and visual merchandising.
I undertook an internship at Zandra Rhodes Studio. Duties included helping along side the design team to rework designs and produce mood boards to send to collaborating designers.I used programs such as InDesign and Photoshop to refine designs and experiment with a variety of colour schemes. Also provided general office support and ran errands for the studio.
I undertook a fortnight long work placement at Your Local Link Magazine. In this time I conducted research and co authored an article on the growing trend of vintage fashion, which was published in Your Local Link magazine. I also styled a photoshoot using vintage clothing found in charity shops and assisted with logo and advertisement design as well as page layout, which taught me how to use grids and templates to ensure a structured layout.
