  • Digitising A Live Show During A Pandemic
Digitising A Live Show During A PandemicArtX Live! is the annual audiovisual experience which holds as a key part of West Africa’s premier art fair, ArtX Lagos. Although we were in a pandemic, the organisers took on the challenge of transforming the experience for a digital stage. As if things weren’t difficult enough, we also had to produce this body of work in the middle of the #EndSARS protests, which saw a massacre at the Lekki Toll gate. ILA Portrait Series: A Contemporary Visual Commentary on Tibal Marks The portfolio from which the present work derives – features images taken by Baingor Joiner in May 2017 in Laogs, Nigeria. The series was created as part of a wider conversation on tribal marks, which were recently outlawed by the Osun State government in April 2017. In this series, Joiner provides a quaint portrayal of the ‘‘‘b’’anned’’ and ‘uncivilized’ tribal marks. The juxtaposing of man and nature is a constant in these images: to represent the control, or perhaps lack there of over the

One Art Night '15: Changing the Picture - Social Commentary On Diversity in LondonThe One Art Night was part of a Social Action Campaign (SAC) for Uprising, a leadership program. The goal was to provide a social commentary on how diversity is perceived in London and society at large, through the arts. The One Art Night was held at the Rich Mix in Shoreditch, with many thanks to Rushanara Ali, MP. A blank canvas was provided for attendees to contribute to, spoken word, musical performances and art exhibition occured in the space, all art was exhibited was on the topic of diversity. The event would not have been made possible without the help of Mayor John Biggs of Tower Hamlets. His dedication to enriching the lives of his constituents is the reason he truly is a man of the people. An image of the participatory piece created can be seen below. The canvas was donated towards the Tower Hamlets Arts Awards. Proceeds of the event were donated to Spotlight, a charity in Basingstoke that supports families and carers of children suffering from terminal illness or mental or physical disability. WEBSITE
