About me
Simplicity is my design philosophy. Simple designs please me.
My interest in graphic design is very broad. I’m currently trying out as many branches of graphic design as I possibly can. Finding the right design role for me is important. I love doing different things and learning new skills to adapt to the role.
Photography has always interested me, I was even a wedding dress model once which was fun. I have taught myself how to play piano (to a beginner level). playing guitar is also something I can kind of do. I aim to be the most successful child of my family.
Projects
- Design Journal The challenge was to make a book with five sections. Each section included one project from the unit. I had to learn a lot about book design for this. I had never even thought about book design before this, but I found InDesign as my friend for the creation of it. Without using grids I would have been lost. It taught me about the precision of design. I needed every page to follow and ethos and layout. The finished design did look like a book, which was all I could hope for really. I proved to
- Animal cruelty awareness campaign The challenge here was working out how to create an awareness campaign for animal cruelty. I want to make people more aware of the cruelty that happens. I had mainly seem more gruesome approaches to this topic. I decided to be different. I have used typography to create cute animal shapes with contrasting words. I wanted the posters to describe how the animals are suffering. This hopefully conveys a powerful message and impacts the person looking at the design. I finished with a series of posters that people seemed to really connect with. It was a different approach to animal cruelty. They could be used as part of an anti cruelty campaign.
- Typographic animation I needed to create an animation that was based on a piece of text. It needs to be interesting enough for people to want to watch. Broad projects, for me, are very creatively limiting. This was a big challenge with this animation brief. I chose a poem by Ernest Hemingway. Using After Effects for this was good because of the wide range of text tools. I wanted to learn and refine my skills in this area of the software. The result was completely typographical. I was designing as if this animation would be used to show off Ernest Hemingway’s work. I think an animation is a good way of doing this as it can be very memorable.
