After studying Graphic Design for 4 years, I picked up a variety of skills involved in the umbrella of design. I found myself becoming more proficient in analysing the design process, typographic minutia and implementing them into my own work. I was even able to be awarded a _YCN commendation for a piece of work involving poems, flavours, illustrations and chocolate bars. Experimentation is the key to creating designs that are unique. This is where my design theory and specialities lie. Design trends spark my creativity and experimentation triggers the full potential of my imagination, especially when generating concepts and ideas.
Projects
- Social Media & Mental HealthThis project deals with Social Media & Mental Health using emotive experimental typography. The project deals with topics like anxiety, loneliness and depression online. The style takes inspiration from glitch technology and is used to create uneasiness when viewing. Major colours within the style includes red, black and blue. The outcome produced designs fit for poster use. An asset used with the final product was a poster advertising an event at Kelvingrove.
- Limerick ChocolateThis was a response to a competition set by YCN_. The idea was to create vegan chocolate bars to again appeal to people with certain dietary requirement. Research brought me to create packaging involving poems with the ingredients imprinted onto them. The packaging also had small illustrations to work with the entire poem. The range was name Yippee and the slogan was ‘Vegan, dairy and nut free, in some chocolate shout Yippee’. An example of a poem: ‘Little miss muffin met one great big puffin
