Fun, Creative, Adventurous, Thoughtful.
Having proceeded into the design field eight years ago, Cynthia has worked on a wide range of projects in different scales in the UK and Hong Kong, from small interventions to large architectural projects. Her work sits between art and architecture with the intention of bringing aspect of fun and uniqueness into people’s daily life and enriching their spatial experience.
Her interest lies in interdisciplinary design, where she looks into branding, installation, art, narrative design, and the integration between those subjects with architecture.
Projects
- TA! TileThis project kicked off with the intention of sharing a piece of TA! with the others. It evolved into an experiment which looks into the making process of material and the intersection between the 'making' and branding. A collection of tiles are made to explore various ways of expressing a brand identity through making. We focused on playing with different techniques of clay shaping: molding, pressing, sculpting, rolling and so on. We hope to bend the conventional image given by the material i

- House of LoveWe created a structure for participants of the Queer Culture Festival to seek shelter in and spread the message of love. It is intended to act as a bridge for communication between people who agree and disagree with LGBTQ+ values. It will be placed in Seoul Plaza during the festival and also mobilise to become part of the Pride parade. The flexibility of the façade allows individuals within to reach out and interact with protestors, while offering a colourful layer of protection to remind each o1
- Toxic WonderlandThe installation commissioned by 100% Design for The Forum is a savage interpretation of Alice’s garden gone wrong, a vividly monochrome dream rendered in handcrafted macramé. Taking inspiration from the textile and fashion industry, the Forum recreates the classical proportions of the venue’s architecture in a soft and tactile material gesture. The simplicity of the scheme and scale of the arch, 3 metres wide by 3 metres high, is meant to connect the onlooker to the grand scale of the gallery15
