Cultural Producer, Writer, Poet and Performance ArtistSheffield, United Kingdom
About me
I am a Jamaican-British singer, writer, performance artist, poet, and cultural producer based in Sheffield. I was the founder of Nyara School of Arts, an African-Caribbean arts and heritage organisation and currently a Social Sciences student at the University of Sheffield - soon to be Global Creative Industries student at the University of Leeds. My work has been published in several anthologies including Halfway Smile and Surfing the Twilight (Hive 2018/2019) and also featured on the digital platform Black Ballad UK. I'm a member of Hive South Yorkshire and performed at a number of poetry and music festivals including the Ted Hughes Poetry Festival, Off the Shelf, Tramlines, Latitude, and The Big Chill Festival. My written work centres on the intersections of race, class and gender, sexuality, and the humanising of the Black being. I recently released my debut LP Good Fruit produced by Maurice Fulton and produced my first documentary-film ‘Passing the Baton: The Legacy of the Windrush Pioneers’ which documents the impact of the Windrush Generation on Sheffield’s cultural landscape. Her interests are designing co-creative approaches towards placemaking in inner-city regions, policymaking in the creative industries, and creating a cultural landscape that celebrates the artistic and cultural contributions of young Black and ethnically minoritised artists.

It's been championed by Defected Records DJ Monki, Rimarkable, Luke Solomon, and the goddess that is Peggy Gou. Not too bad if I may say so myself :D BUT I'd love for you to check it out and tell me what you think! The Importance of Culture, Values and Legacy in the Black CommunityLast year I had the pleasure of producing a documentary: Passing the Baton - The Legacy of the Windrush Pioneers. The film was funded by Sheffield City Council and filmed and directed by filmmaker Paris North. I wanted to capture the stories of Windrush elders and their children to explore the influences of that generation on Sheffield's cultural landscape. As we were filming we found that there was a deeper story that needed to be touched on and we decided to follow that silver thread. The que
