  • Landscape Divided
Landscape DividedLandscape Divided is a photographic experimentation through the medium of collages by exploring the notion of transforming a photograph into an object, as well as visualizing the way in which landscapes can be disrupted to build a narrative. This series aims to produce a juxtaposition of a nostalgic feeling towards nature and the deconstruction of landscape that has been shaped by human interference, attempting to disrupt the idealized and romantic view of nature.

  • Where The Land Split
Where The Land SplitWhere the Land Split, is a photographic interpretative documentation that explores the aesthetics and the powerful force, which Mother Nature has upon the environment. The world map might look different, had it not been for the volcano eruption of Thera in Greece, 3500 years ago. Geologists believe it was the single most powerful explosive event ever witnessed and changed the course of the entire ancient Mediterranean landscape, as well as the political landscape. Minoan culture, the dominant civilization at the time crumbled as a result of the eruption. Environmental effects were believed to have been felt across the globe, as far away as China, North American and Antarctica. Through photographic documentation, Elena tries to raise awareness for the massive impact Mother Nature has on re-shaping the course of humanity, as well as landscape. All living things on the planet, from their most primordial instincts, should be constantly interacting with the environment to ensure harmony, balance and continuity of Life. Unfortunately modern society has re-defined harmony with Nature and has shifted the focus on money and greed instead. If humanity violates Mother Nature’s laws and alters her balance, they will pay the price in suffering and extinction, whereas the landscape and nature will continue to flourish.
