About me
Author of "Psychological Self Defence" - pending publication.
I'm an experienced writer and social media manager (and accidentally award-winning blogger.)
Also a voiceover artist and trainee wrestler!
I currently write features for print and web media, proofread and edit books, create visual media and speak at events with a focus on empowerment through adventure and psychological self defence.
Companies and brands I have worked with include ITV2, Atlas Obscura, MessyNessyChic, Carla's Curiosities, photographer Rebecca Bathory (Moon and Moth) and award-winning nursery accessory company Memories of Growing Up.
Projects
- Pinterest development for influencer "Life Out There"I created and posted a series of pins to boost interactions on Pinterest, driving traffic to the blog Life Out There. This was a challenge I enjoyed, as the target audience were not Pinterest's usual demographic so I worked to combine the gritty, rough-around-the-edges appeal of the brand and the sleek picture-perfect standard which gains attention on Pinterest. After a week, interactions had increased by 400% and the greatest driver of traffic to the blog was Pinterest.
- Atlas Obscura food articleArticle published with Atlas Obscura, for their food section "Gastro Obscura". Submission, research and writing was managed by myself. "A tiny battle rages in Belgium, involving two vendors, a street brawl, a bucket of water and legal action, all over one of the country's lesser-known specialities: cuberdons...

I once won second place in a controversial Christmas film competition...Seriously, I did
It was called "Write Christmas".
Otherwise, I've won Alt Magazine's Blogger of the Year award and while there are no trophies on my shelf, I have had a host of rewarding experiences:
- Being interviewed for Glamour magazine about my role in jailing a rapist photographer
- Being interviewed by Sky News as an expert on feminism and safety in the modelling industry
- My work was described as having 'end-of-days staying power' by the manager of California's Wasteland Weekend festival. (Five day Mad Max tribute).
- Jane Goldman mentioned an article I wrote in an interview (she liked it)
- My steampunk mystery series (pending publication) being compared favourably to Jonathan Strange by a first reviewer.
