- NEVER IRL, WHY ONLINE?Technology and social media provides a level of anonymity which can lead some to behave in ways that we would not deem acceptable in real life. - Chosen FamiliesChappy and Survation polled 518 gay men in the UK and found that 47% had experienced homophobia from direct family members, resulting in anxiety and/or depression. 30% of them said they had experienced those reactions in the homes of close family, and 17% in the homes of extended family. As a result, many members of the LGBTQ+ community have built their own chosen families proving that blood isn’t always thicker than water.
